SWC Quinta Madalena 1996

This small 5-hectare vineyard is located in the heart of the sheltered Rio Torto Valley. The shape of the vineyard is formed by the curve of the river. The property supplies Smith Woodhouse Ports, a specialist Port house run by Symington Family Estates. Half of Quinta da Madalena is covered with plantings of old, mixed, very low-yielding vines. These bestow remarkable depth and complexity to the Smith Woodhouse Ports, in particular, the Vintage and Late Bottled Vintage Ports.

Lovely ruby colour, this wine is already approachable, with excellent bottle age characteristics. It offers typical aromas of violets and roses supported by a smooth generous palate of lush, sweet dried and forest fruits. Splendidly smooth on the palate, well balanced, with delicate fruit flavours and great length and intensity on the finish.

Dark chocolate desserts as well as semi-cured and cured cheeses like Cheddar and Manchego.
