Tasting Notes

A sandy nose opens with summer pudding, black cherries, and crushed raspberries, underpinned by aromatic spices and a creamy undertone. On the palate, expect a richly flavoured fusion of peppery Shiraz and warm, spicy Mourvèdre, balanced with vibrant fruit and a savoury core. A juicy yet dark wine, it finishes with a long, spicy flourish.

Pair this with rich and savoury dishes like salt-marsh lamb, a hearty bean casserole, or a slow-braised oxtail. Serve at 16–18°C to let its complexity shine.

Artisan Craftsmanship

The grapes are sourced from traditional growers in Swartland, where the Malmsbury shale and loamy soils, combined with cool breezes and low summer rainfall, create an ideal climate for viticulture. This wine is a masterful blend of 70% Shiraz from Riebeek Valley vineyards, co-fermented with 27% Mourvèdre and 3% Viognier from the Kasteelberg slopes. During fermentation, the skin cap is punched down multiple times daily to maximise extraction, resulting in a wine that is both bold and harmonious.
