Aged for eleven months in French oak barriques, this Pinot is floral and spicy with a nose of fresh raspberries and blackcurrant, and loads of black cherry and plum on the palate complemented by smoky mushroom notes. A lively minerality lengthens the savoury characteristics throughout the finish.
Akarua, meaning 'two vines' in Māori, represents the two varieties originally planted in the area in 1996: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This 100% Pinot Noir is able to be enjoyed now, but has fantastic cellaring potential (10+ years).
