About this wine

Three decades of barrel ageing in the Douro Valley — that's what's inside each hand-painted bottle of Barão de Vilar 30 Year Old Tawny Port. This is a wine that rewards patience and craftsmanship, matured slowly in seasoned oak casks under the warmth of northern Portugal's sun-drenched valley, developing layers of extraordinary depth and complexity that only time can create.

In the glass, it reveals a beautifully aged amber-tawny hue with golden hints at the rim — a visual signature of its extended barrel maturation. The nose is captivating and complex: roasted hazelnuts, dried fig, caramel, warm spice, and a whisper of orange peel mingle in a bouquet that evolves continuously in the glass. On the palate, it's silky and luxurious, with a long, warming finish that lingers with notes of toasted almond and subtle sweetness, balanced by the natural acidity that makes great Tawny so enduring.

Each bottle is individually hand-painted by artisan artists in Portugal, making every one a unique and collectible piece. Whether bought as a gift for a 30th birthday or wedding anniversary, or added to a serious port collection, this is a bottle that carries real meaning — and real quality to match.

Serve lightly chilled at around 14°C. Pairs magnificently with dark chocolate, pecan tart, crème brûlée, walnut cake, strong blue cheese, or simply enjoyed slowly on its own after dinner as the ultimate nightcap.

About the producer

Barão de Vilar is a distinguished Port house rooted in the van Zeller family's fourteen-generation connection to the Douro Valley, formalised as a modern estate in 1996. Their celebrated hand-painted Tawny Ports — spanning 10, 20, 30, and 40 years of ageing — are prized for their artisan presentation and extraordinary complexity. Sourced from the family's estates in São João da Pesqueira and Torre de Moncorvo, they represent benchmark aged Port.
