Rich, velvety and utterly moreish
This 10-Year-Old Malmsey from Blandy’s is a luscious dessert-style Madeira, full of depth, spice and indulgent sweetness. Made from the Malvasia grape and aged in seasoned oak casks using the traditional Canteiro method, it’s a fine example of the island’s most opulent style.
Tasting notes
Deep amber with golden highlights. The nose bursts with aromas of raisins, toffee, orange peel, walnuts and baking spices. On the palate, it’s rich and warming with flavours of caramelised figs, dates, honey and toasted almonds, balanced by a bright acidity that keeps everything perfectly in check.
Perfect serve
Serve slightly chilled in a small wine glass. A treat on its own or alongside sticky toffee pudding, dark chocolate torte or a fine blue cheese. Also fantastic with a cigar, if that’s your thing.
Artisan craftsmanship
Crafted by the Blandy family – Madeira’s most iconic producers since 1811 – this Malmsey is aged for a decade in American oak casks in the island’s naturally warm lodges. The slow, oxidative ageing process lends it extraordinary complexity and longevity.

I hadn't tasted Malmsey for many years. I was considering making Madeira sauce but thought better of it, made a red wine sauce and drank the Malmsey.
I'm no expert, and unlikely to have an attack of the Jilly Gooldens, but it was much enjoyed and I will definitely buy again.
