Brotte Les Hauts de Barville Châteauneuf du Pape Rouge 2020
Brotte Les Hauts de Barville Châteauneuf du Pape Rouge 2020
A Classic Southern Rhône Elegance
Tasting Notes
Colour: A radiant ruby with purple glints, captivating and deep.
Nose: A rich symphony of red fruits, with strawberry leading the way, complemented by spicy notes, truffles, and the herbal essence of garrigue (scrubland).
Palate: Rich and unctuous, this wine offers a lasting impression of red fruits and spices. It will seduce those who appreciate vibrant fruit in its youth, and for those who choose to age it, the wine will evolve to reveal deeper truffle and garrigue notes, becoming even more complex over time.
Perfect Serve
Best served at 16–18°C, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a fantastic match for slow-braised lamb, roast duck with a berry glaze, or a rich mushroom and thyme tart. Decant for 1–2 hours to let the wine fully express its depth and aromas.
Artisan Craftsmanship
Les Hauts de Barville is part of Maison Brotte's commitment to sustainable viticulture, with practices such as de-budding, de-leafing, and green harvesting to control yields and boost quality. The grapes are hand-harvested, de-stemmed, and gently crushed before undergoing controlled fermentation at 28°C and a 3–4 week maceration.
The tannic Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre are aged in French oak barrels, while the more delicate Grenache is matured in concrete vats and 100-year-old large oak casks, preserving its vibrant fruit. The grapes come from selected small producers in the Rhône Valley, with vines planted on sun-soaked clay-silt terroir. This ideal terroir and the region’s hot, dry climate favour the ripening of the grapes, ensuring both exceptional fruit and wine quality.
