Rich and Generous Expression of Vacqueyras
Tasting Notes
Colour: A deep ruby red with vibrant purple reflections.
Nose: Intense and generous, the nose bursts with rich black fruit aromas, followed by subtle spicy notes that add complexity.
Palate: Full and rich on the palate, this wine offers great freshness alongside silky, elegant tannins. The flavour profile is dominated by bright red fruits, making it both approachable and structured, with a long, satisfying finish.
Perfect Serve
Serve at 16–18°C, ideally paired with grilled meats, roast lamb, or Mediterranean dishes such as couscous with vegetables and lamb. A brief decant (30 minutes to 1 hour) will help open up the wine’s full potential, showcasing its smooth tannins and fruit-driven profile.
Artisan Craftsmanship
The grapes for M. Chapoutier Vacqueyras Avarum 2022 are grown on calcareous sandstone and gravelly clay terraces, where the unique terroir imparts a strong sense of place. The vineyard’s combination of soil types and Mediterranean climate leads to optimal grape ripening, ensuring the wine’s full expression.
After hand-harvesting, the de-stemmed grapes undergo fermentation in concrete tanks, with the fermentation temperature carefully controlled at around 25°C to preserve the aromatic qualities of the varietals. Gentle daily pumping over operations delicately extracts colour, tannins, and aromatics, while post-fermentation maceration lasts for four weeks, further refining the wine’s structure.
The wine is primarily aged in concrete vats, with a small portion maturing in 600-litre barrels, ensuring a balance of freshness and subtle oak influence. After 12 months, the wine is bottled, ready to reveal its beautiful complexity.
- Vintage: 2022

Great service from the he Wine Shop, really quick delivery well packed and the wine was splendid.
Wine Shop offered the best price and I can highly recommend them.
My first ever wine from the Wine Shop! This is a beautifully smooth wine but which also has a bit of ‘bite’. Very happy with this wine and I’ll be back!
Bought this as a present for my 22 year old son who was 15 when he first had a taste on a D Day visit 7 years ago. The wine is just as I remembered it, smooth and round, a delicious drink. My son also enjoyed the taste, as an adult.
It doesn’t get better than this!
I love Botter chianti. It has a great peppery finish and the bottle is a delight. Quick and reliable delivery too.
Amazing wine and a 24 hours delivery service.
Excellent service. Thank you
Very moreish sparkling Pinot Grigio at a reasonable price. Light and refreshing with none of the acidity or slight chemical aftertaste you often get with sparkling wines at this price. Went through a dozen bottles far too quickly.
This full fruity , complex red is our absolute favourite!
A delightfully crisp NZ wine with a citrusy finish. Well worth the money and went down well with all who participated
This is a superb wine - full but not heavy, fruity and smooth. Perfect for sharing on an autumn evening.
Stunning depth and rich body. I can almost tell if a red wine is going to be good by the lack of a white rim around when you pour the glass. This has a lovely blood ted colour and delivers.
I'm just going to be honest here, I'm a Gavi Girl and have been trying to find this little gem for a while. It's absolutely delicious and so adaptable too. Thrilled with the price, delivery and service and happily ordering more!
A lovely drink and remarkably good value . Smooth and buttery with that unmistakable Napa terroir writ large. Nothing not to like.
Another fantastic wine tasting. But with a difference. Wine bottles concealed in black numbered bags 1-7. Black glasses. So we were unaware of what we were tasting, having to rely on taste and smell alone. We had tasting notes to guide our thoughts once we had made a few notes ourselves. It was great fun. I managed to at least figure out whether or not the wine was red. But missed the rose and mistook one white for red.
The Wine Shop tasting are great fun. Highly recommend.
Great evening getting confused and educated at the very interesting Mystery Wine Tasting with 7 secret wines in black bags to taste using black glasses so you couldn’t tell if it was white, rose, or red. Kelli and Caroline gave great guidance and helped us work through what we were smelling and tasting to get to a grape and country. My two fears were that (1) I wouldn’t recognise a Tempranillo (especially as it turned out to be one I have often purchased!) and (2) that I’d actually like a Merlot!!! (Luckily there wasn’t one 😂). Another brilliant wine tasting.
