Painted Wolf Lightning Sauvignon Blanc

This is an elegant, layered Sauvignon Blanc, reminiscent of a dry white
Bordeaux. A sophisticated, rich wine with layers of citrus, straw and
minerality, herbal notes and a hint of creamy vanilla. This wine will continue to develop over the next 3-4 years.

The Sauvignon Blanc grapes came from the beautiful Vaalvlei and
Stonefields vineyards in Stanford, which are close to the ocean and have
decomposed granite soil. The Semillon is from La Vierge in the Hemel-
en-Aarde Valley.

The Sauvignon Blanc was settled and fermented in a mixture of eggs,
old wood and stainless steel. Semillon was fermented in stainless and
spent 6 months on lees in an egg. Ten percent of the wine is made up
from Lightning 2020 which spent 18 months on lees in barrel.
Total production 6,500 bottles.

Lighting was the Kruger National Park’s most famous painted wolf. The
alpha male of the Skukuza Pack, with his signature lightning flash on his
left side he was easily identifiable and beloved by researchers as the
quintessential African wild dog.
