The Region

Progreso, located at 34 degrees southern latitude, benefits from its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the Rio de la Plata. Cooling maritime breezes and a sunny, cool climate contribute to the low yields of high-quality grapes, grown on clay, ash, and calcareous soils just north of Montevideo.

Artisan Craftsmanship

The Pisano family’s winemaking story dates back to 1870 when Francesco Pisano arrived in Uruguay from Italy. The original vineyards were planted in 1914 by his son Cesare, and today the family continues to craft wines that reflect their rich heritage. Producing just 18,000 cases annually, the Pisano estate focuses on hand-crafted, niche-market wines celebrated for their distinctive character.
