Craftsmanship and Terroir

Tyrrell's is a pioneer in the Hunter Valley wine region, with a rich history dating back to 1858. Edward Tyrrell harvested his first vintage of Hunter Valley Semillon back in 1864, and his son Dan followed in his footsteps, overseeing 69 vintages at the family winery. Today, the 5th generation of Tyrrells farms the family land and crafts wines much like their ancestors. The Semillon grapes are sourced from the family’s oldest vineyards, where the unique climate and well-drained soils contribute to the fruit's exceptional quality. The winemaking process is characterised by minimal intervention, allowing the true essence of the fruit to shine through. The wine undergoes cool fermentation in stainless steel to preserve its fresh and vibrant character, resulting in a Semillon that is both approachable and complex.
