Why we chose it“2011 Pomerol at this price is a steal — this is a vintage that’s drinking beautifully now. Merlot-led, silky, with that characteristic plum and truffle character.”
Kelli - Wine Buyer
About this wine
Pomerol is among the most prestigious appellations in Bordeaux — a tiny patch of the Right Bank producing wines of extraordinary richness and complexity, largely from Merlot. Château La Croix Des Moines is a compact estate at the heart of the appellation, producing wines that reflect the distinctive iron-rich clay soils that give Pomerol its signature plushness and depth.
The 2011 vintage in Pomerol rewarded those who selected carefully, producing wines of real elegance and length. Expect deep aromas of plum, dark cherry, and mocha, with notes of truffle and cedar from careful oak maturation. The palate is generous, full-bodied, and structured with silky tannins and a long, complex finish.
An ideal match for roasted lamb, duck confit, beef Wellington, or a selection of mature soft cheeses. Decant for at least an hour to allow its layers to fully open.
