About this wine
Doppio Passo Primitivo Puglia is crafted using the ancient Primitivo grape at the very heel of Italy, where intense sunshine and warm Mediterranean breezes produce fruit of extraordinary richness. The wine takes its name from the traditional double-pass drying technique, which concentrates the sugars and flavours before fermentation.
Deep ruby with a violet edge, it is packed with ripe cherry, plum and blackberry, with sweet spice and a smooth, velvety finish. Full-bodied yet approachable, this is a wine made for big flavours — ideal with grilled lamb, slow-cooked pasta dishes, or a generous cheese board.

I bought a few bottles of this excellent red wine some months ago from The Wine Shop, I was so impressed by the velvety smooth, rich and fruity flavour that I have just ordered another 13 bottles, it is now my "go to" wine.

Doppio Passo Primitivo Puglia takes its name from the 'double pass', with some of the grapes left to dry on the vine before pressing, and that is where the velvety weight and dark fruit comes from. Great Italian red that is very smooth and well balanced. Complements most dishes and is also wonderful on its own. Highly recommended.

This Primitivo is waaaay above the equivalent you would be able to buy in a supermarket at a comparable price point.
It pairs really well with Lasagna and rich meaty pasta dishes. Stands up well with strong flavours, such as garlic.
In fact it would pair well with a beef stew from any country, goulash etc.
It is also a lovely velvety wine that could be enjoyed on its own after the meal.
Fantastic value and easy drinking, in a good way.

We can’t get enough of this Passo Dopio Primitivo. It has everything; full bodied, lots of fruit, and a slightly spicy finish. Can’t believe this is a 2024, if you were to lay it down for a year or two it will certainly mellow and become even more delicious. It goes with everything. Great value too, with fast delivery.

The Doppio Passo Primitivo is my favourite wine from the wine shop at this price level. Dark red cherry's and silky smooth, it's a wine that you can drink very happily on its own, but will pair beautifully with flavoursome meat such as lamb or venison.
