About this wine
Italy's Great Red, Dried Grape and All
Amarone is made from grapes dried for months before pressing, concentrating everything they have into a wine of real depth. Marco Polo Amarone is garnet red, with ethereal aromas of cherries in spirit, dried plum, pressed flowers and a range of sweet spices. The palate is structured yet giving, with velvety tannins and a warmth that comes from its 15.5% ABV. The finish goes on and on.
Corvina and Rondinella from the Valpolicella Classica zone, aged in oak to layer cedar and cocoa over the fruit. Serve it with venison, braised short rib, or a board of well aged hard cheeses. It is also very happy on its own after dinner, which is how a great many Italians drink it.

Where This Wine Comes From
Amarone comes from the Valpolicella Classica hills above Verona, in the Veneto. Its grapes are laid out to dry for months before pressing, a process the region has relied on for centuries.
Corvina and Rondinella
The classic Valpolicella pair. Corvina brings sour cherry and lift, Rondinella colour and gentle spice.
Appassimento
Drying the grapes concentrates sugar and flavour. The wine then ferments to dryness, which is why Amarone is powerful and warming rather than sweet.
