A Refined Expression of Pomerol – 2015 Vintage
The 2015 vintage of Château La Patache Pomerol is a beautifully crafted wine that exemplifies the estate's exceptional terroir and the meticulous work of Peter Kwok and his son Howard. Acquired in 2012, Château La Patache continues to impress with each vintage, and 2015 is no exception. Known for its roundness, depth, and concentration, this wine represents a perfect blend of tradition and modern winemaking.
Tasting Notes
The 2015 vintage presents a deep, garnet colour, with aromas of ripe blackberries, plums, and subtle hints of vanilla and spice. On the palate, it reveals rich and smooth flavours of dark berries, with nuances of chocolate and a delicate earthy undertone. The wine’s fine tannins are perfectly integrated, offering balance and structure while allowing the expressive fruit character to shine through. The long finish is smooth and velvety, with a touch of minerality that adds complexity and depth to this exceptional Pomerol.
Perfect Serve
The 2015 Château La Patache Pomerol pairs beautifully with hearty dishes such as roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, or duck. It also complements rich, creamy cheeses and flavourful stews. Its full-bodied nature and long finish make it an ideal choice for special occasions or an elegant dinner party.
Artisan Craftsmanship
Château La Patache, acquired in 2012 by Peter Kwok and his son Howard, is a Right Bank gem with a fascinating history. "Patache" refers to an old way station on the road between Bordeaux and Lyon. The region's potential for great wine production was discovered at the end of the 19th century, and La Patache evolved into a single château with its own identity.
This 3.5-hectare estate is blessed with a unique terroir, consisting of clayey soils with fine gravels and iron-rich clay in the subsoil. The vineyard, located in the heart of Pomerol, includes 1 hectare facing the famed Château Clinet. The property’s old post office is now the château, and the stables have been transformed into cellars, adding to the estate’s historic charm.
