Why we chose it“Yalumba The Cigar is the benchmark Coonawarra Cabernet — that classic terra rossa soil gives the grape its distinctive minty eucalyptus edge alongside cassis and cedar. A serious bottle.”

About this wine
Yalumba, Australia's oldest family-owned winery, has been crafting wines in the Barossa Valley since 1849. The Cigar is their flagship Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine that has come to represent the very best of Australia's most celebrated cool-climate red wine region. Coonawarra's distinctive terra rossa soils over limestone give the wine its signature elegance and finesse, setting it apart from warmer-climate Australian Cabernets.
Well-structured and medium-to-full-bodied, The Cigar opens with classic blackcurrant, cedar and a subtle eucalyptus lift on the nose. The palate is composed and precise, with dark fruit, fine-grained tannins and an elegant, savoury finish that speaks unmistakably of its origin. A rewarding match for lamb, beef or aged hard cheeses.
