About this wine
The Babylonstoren Semillon is a premium single-varietal white wine from the estate's vineyards on the slopes of Simonsberg in the Franschhoek Valley. Produced in relatively small quantities, it showcases the richness and texture for which South African Semillon has become renowned.
Aromas of citrus, ripe nectarine and vanilla custard are joined by layers of honeysuckle, toasted almond and beeswax that add depth and complexity. Full-bodied with a creamy texture, it is balanced by fresh acidity and a long, elegant finish. Serve lightly chilled at 10 to 12°C alongside roast chicken with herbs, lobster or grilled prawns, rich seafood dishes, creamy mushroom risotto or soft, mature cheeses. Lovely now, it also has the concentration to develop honeyed, nutty complexity with a few years of bottle age.
