Why we chose it

“Cap Classique is South Africa’s answer to Méthode Champenoise — made in exactly the same way as Champagne but from SA fruit. Jacques Bruère does it brilliantly at a fair price.”

About this wine

Jacques Bruère Cap Classique Brut delivers a refined sparkling experience with vibrant flavours of green apple, pear, and citrus zest. Its lively bubbles and crisp acidity are complemented by delicate notes of brioche and almond, developed during extended lees ageing.

Made in South Africa's Robertson region using the traditional méthode cap classique, it reflects the same craftsmanship found in Champagne. Perfect as an aperitif or paired with oysters, smoked salmon, and seafood, this sparkling wine brings finesse and celebration to every occasion.

About the producer

Bon Courage Estate has been home to three generations of the Bruwer family since 1927, set amid the sun-drenched vineyards and limestone-rich soils of Robertson Valley in South Africa's Western Cape. Viticulturist André Bruwer and his son Jacques, the winemaker, produce a diverse range from Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage to Gewürztraminer. The estate's signature Special Late Harvest Gewürztraminer is particularly celebrated — a luscious expression balancing tropical fruit richness with vibrant natural acidity.
