About this wine
A distinctive white Rioja made from 100% Tempranillo Blanco, Lacrimus is a fresh, vibrant Spanish white with plenty of fruit and a pleasingly rounded texture.
Produced by Bodegas Rodríguez y Sanzo, the Tempranillo Blanco grapes come from vineyards in the Monte Yerga area of Rioja, at around 620 metres altitude. A proportion of the wine is fermented in French oak, before the components are brought together and spend two months on their lees, adding texture and roundness while retaining the grape's natural freshness.
Pale straw in colour with greenish highlights, the nose is expressive with tropical and white fruit aromas. The palate brings juicy citrus, quince, lime zest and grapefruit, with lively acidity complemented by a subtle waxy texture and a clean, refreshing finish.
An excellent alternative for anyone looking beyond the more familiar styles of Rioja Blanco, and a particularly interesting introduction to the relatively unusual Tempranillo Blanco grape.
Food pairing: A versatile match for fish and seafood, as well as light pasta dishes, salads and simply prepared Mediterranean dishes.
