About this wine
Discover one of north-east Italy's most distinctive native grape varieties with Russolo Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. Produced in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, this elegant red showcases the character and depth that Refosco is renowned for, balancing vibrant fruit with savoury complexity. A characterful alternative to Cabernet Sauvignon or Syrah for anyone exploring indigenous Italian grapes.
Deep ruby red in colour, the wine opens with aromas of ripe blackberries, wild cherries, blackcurrants and subtle notes of violet, black pepper and sweet spice. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied and dry, with juicy dark fruit flavours, liquorice and gentle spice supported by fresh acidity and smooth, silky tannins, leading to a long, savoury and elegantly spiced finish. Serve at 16 to 18°C, decanting for 20 to 30 minutes, alongside grilled steaks, roast lamb, venison and game, beef ragù, mushroom risotto or mature hard cheeses. Suitable for vegan diets.
