Why we chose it“Saraja Libaltai Carignano from Sardinia — old-vine Carignano, dark, earthy and warming. Sardinia does red wine with real character and this is a great example.”

About this wine
Cantina di Santadi is one of Sardinia's most celebrated wine producers, guided for decades by legendary consultant Giacomo Tachis, the man behind Sassicaia and Tignanello. Saraja Libaltai is their expression of Carignano grown in the Isola dei Nuraghi IGT zone, south-west Sardinia. Old vines on sun-scorched island soils produce fruit of real depth: dark cherry, plum and a rustic, herb-tinged Mediterranean warmth on the palate.
Bold and satisfying, it pairs brilliantly with rich tomato pasta, slow-roasted lamb, wild boar or strong cheeses. A distinctive red from one of Italy's most individual island wine cultures.
