Why we chose it“The original single barrel, and still one I'd happily pay for. Neat with one big cube, no more — the vanilla and dried fruit don't need any help.”

About this wine
In 1984, Blanton's Original Single Barrel Bourbon became the first commercially released single-barrel bourbon in American history — a decision that changed the whiskey industry forever and sparked a revolution in premium bourbon. Produced at the legendary Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, each barrel is personally sampled and selected before bottling. No blending, no averaging: what's in the bottle came from one barrel and one barrel only.
The result is a bourbon of remarkable character and depth — warm amber in colour, with aromas of vanilla, caramel, citrus, and a gentle hint of nutmeg. On the palate, it delivers layers of toasted oak, honey, dried fruit, and warming spice, with a long, satisfying finish that balances sweetness and complexity. The distinctive round bottle and collectible horse-and-jockey stopper — each one a different figure from the eight-horse race — have made Blanton's as recognisable on the shelf as it is revered in the glass.
Best enjoyed neat or with a single large ice cube to allow its full character to open. Also outstanding in a classic Old Fashioned or Manhattan. An essential bottle for serious bourbon enthusiasts and a standout gift for anyone who appreciates American whiskey at its finest.
