Why we chose it“Château Musar Red is unlike anything else in the world. The 2018 is drinking beautifully — complex, brooding and utterly fascinating. A wine that changes how you think about Lebanon.”

About this wine
Château Musar Red 2018 is an equal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan from Lebanon's Bekaa Valley. Deep garnet in the glass, it opens with dried cherries and mature red fruit, then turns rich and concentrated across the palate with cranberry, raisin and date. Good acidity keeps it lively, the tannins are fine, and there is a smoky, dusty quality underneath with soft liquorice running through it.
Musar is one of the wine world's true originals. Each variety ferments with its own natural yeasts in concrete vats, spends twelve months in French Nevers oak, and is then blended and bottled without fining or filtration. This one was six years old before it was released, so it is already developed and open for business. Serve at 16 to 18°C with grilled lamb, roast beef or a spread of Lebanese mezze.
