About this wine

Domaine Auvigue is widely regarded as one of the top three or four producers in Pouilly-Fuissé, the flagship white wine appellation of the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy. This Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is crafted from old Chardonnay vines whose deep roots draw complexity and concentration from the appellation's distinctive limestone and clay soils, producing wines of noticeably greater richness and mineral definition than younger vine cuvées.

The wine shows ripe apple, poached pear and a hint of citrus blossom on the nose, with a palate of elegant weight and excellent creamy texture. The finish is long, mineral and persistent, the hallmark of great Mâconnais Chardonnay. An excellent match for roast chicken, grilled fish, creamy risotto and soft French cheeses.

About the producer

Maison Auvigue is a family-run négociant-éleveur based in Charnay-lès-Mâcon in the heart of the Mâconnais. The Auvigue family has been making wine in the region for three generations, crafting benchmark expressions of Pouilly-Fuissé, Mâcon-Villages, and Saint-Véran with a focus on terroir, freshness, and the distinctive mineral character of Burgundy's southernmost white wine appellation.
