Why we chose it“A light, silky red with real charm. Put it out with a board of charcuterie and cheese and it will not last long.”
Kelli - Wine Buyer
About this wine
La Chapelle Rouge is a light, bright ruby red from Gascony, with a nose of ripe strawberry and raspberry. The palate echoes that red fruit and adds hints of blackcurrant and a subtle touch of pepper, all carried on soft, silky tannins. It is balanced and approachable, the kind of red that slips down easily yet still shows plenty of class.
Domaine de Pellehaut sits on three gently rolling hills at Montréal-du-Gers, where the Béraut family have made wine for more than 300 years. Brothers Mathieu and Martin pick and ferment each variety separately before blending Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannat, Malbec, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Manseng Noir into this supple red. Enjoy it with steak, a board of cured meats or a plate of hard cheeses, and open it over the next few years while the fruit is at its brightest.
