Why we chose it“Lambrusco picked up a bad name in the 1980s and it does not deserve it. Chill this one hard and drink it with salami, pizza or a wedge of Parmesan. Cherry fruit, a gentle sweetness, and it disappears fast.”

About this wine
Nua Lambrusco Emilia Rosso pours a bright ruby red with lively purple highlights and a soft, frothy mousse. It is gently sweet in the Amabile style, with ripe cherry, blackberry and wild strawberry fruit carried on a fresh, easy-going palate. Medium-bodied and lightly sparkling, it stays refreshing from the first glass to the last, and a good chill in the fridge brings the fruit into sharper focus. If you have only met Lambrusco as a heavy, syrupy red, this is a very different proposition.
Lambrusco comes from Emilia Romagna, the region behind Parmigiano Reggiano, Parma ham and Modena's balsamic vinegar, and the wine was built to sit alongside that food. Nua blend Lambrusco Salamino, Maestri and Marani grown across the Emilian plains, fermenting at cool temperatures to hold on to the fruit before a second fermentation gives the wine its sparkle. Serve it well chilled with cured meats, pizza, pasta in a tomato sauce or a plate of hard cheese. It is a relaxed, sociable bottle for a table full of people rather than a formal occasion.
