Why we chose it

“Nouveau is not trying to be serious, and that is the point. Chill it a little, open it with friends in November and enjoy the new vintage while it is young.”

About this wine

Beaujolais Nouveau is the first taste of each new French harvest, and Jean-Michel Dupré's version captures everything that makes the tradition such a joy. It carries the Beaujolais-Villages appellation, a step up from straightforward Beaujolais, and is made from Gamay grown on his vineyards above the village of Beaujeu, in the heart of Beaujolais. It is bright, juicy and full of fresh red fruit, with the soft, gentle tannins that make young Gamay so easy to enjoy. Jean-Michel farms using organic methods and keeps added sulphites to a minimum, so what you taste is pure, lively fruit from the new vintage.

This is a pre-order for the 2026 vintage, released on Thursday 19 November, the third Thursday of November, when Beaujolais Nouveau is celebrated around the world. We send pre-orders out from release day, and anything else in the same order is sent together with your Nouveau. Serve it lightly chilled with charcuterie, roast chicken or a cheese board, and raise a glass to the new vintage with friends.

About the producer

Jean-Michel Dupré farms vineyards perched above the village of Beaujeu, in the heart of Beaujolais, south of Burgundy and north of Lyon. When he took over the estate from his father it covered only two hectares. He has since turned the old farm buildings into a winery and added well-placed plots in Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages, Morgon and Régnié.

He is passionate about the environment, farming with organic methods and keeping added sulphites to a minimum in the cellar, and is converting the estate to full organic certification plot by plot.
