Limestone Roots and Right Bank Elegance
Château Sarenceau is a characterful, family-owned estate whose vineyards straddle both Montagne Saint-Émilion and Saint-Émilion appellations, thriving on limestone-rich soils. Now in its fourth generation, the domaine is led by Ludovic Delage, whose deep connection to the land is reflected in the careful stewardship of just 9 hectares of vines. Hand harvesting and traditional Bordeaux vinification ensure precision and respect for terroir at every stage.
Perched at one of the highest points of the Libournais, Montagne Saint-Émilion overlooks rolling hills and limestone-clay plateaus, bordered by Pomerol to the west and Saint-Émilion to the south. From 30-year-old Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, this wine is aged in a combination of concrete and oak. The nose is expressive with red fruits, violets, gentle vanilla and subtle toasted notes, while the palate is full-bodied and supple, balancing ripe tannins with generous texture. A charming, mature Right Bank Bordeaux that offers depth without heaviness.

from 537 reviewsWe invited the lovely Rector of our parish church (the oldest church in Surrey) over for supper with her equally charming husband a while back. They were very kind enough to bring a bottle of this wonderful wine with them as a gift. We liked it so much I subsequently ordered 7 bottles from The Wine Shop to be delivered. I can recommend the wine AND The Wine Shop highly. In fact I have just placed a further order for another 8 bottles.
This one was a surprise find at a local restaurant, so we sought it out to order more. It's hard to describe a flavour, as much as it is to describe sound, but it may be easier to recount my experience of it. Here goes... It has good balance of fruit and body; it doesn't dry the mouth nor kill my palate after a single glass. It's a Primitivo from Puglia, so it has that character. Definitely recommended.
Thought I would give this wine a go as it was a favourite of Winston Churchill, well what can I say but Winston had great taste in red wine. A lovely dark red colour and a deceptive first slurp brings a super easy drink which then catches up to you with a powerful warm feeling in your stomach. Let’s just say it’s dangerously good. 😉
This is my second order of 12 bottles! Lovely wine, easy drinking! Mellow, light fruity notes and a clean refreshing finish!
This Primitivo is waaaay above the equivalent you would be able to buy in a supermarket at a comparable price point.
It pairs really well with Lasagna and rich meaty pasta dishes. Stands up well with strong flavours, such as garlic.
In fact it would pair well with a beef stew from any country, goulash etc.
It is also a lovely velvety wine that could be enjoyed on its own after the meal.
Fantastic value and easy drinking, in a good way.
Great service from the he Wine Shop, really quick delivery well packed and the wine was splendid.
Wine Shop offered the best price and I can highly recommend them.
My first ever wine from the Wine Shop! This is a beautifully smooth wine but which also has a bit of ‘bite’. Very happy with this wine and I’ll be back!
Bought this as a present for my 22 year old son who was 15 when he first had a taste on a D Day visit 7 years ago. The wine is just as I remembered it, smooth and round, a delicious drink. My son also enjoyed the taste, as an adult.
It doesn’t get better than this!
I love Botter chianti. It has a great peppery finish and the bottle is a delight. Quick and reliable delivery too.
Amazing wine and a 24 hours delivery service.
Excellent service. Thank you
Very moreish sparkling Pinot Grigio at a reasonable price. Light and refreshing with none of the acidity or slight chemical aftertaste you often get with sparkling wines at this price. Went through a dozen bottles far too quickly.
This full fruity , complex red is our absolute favourite!
A delightfully crisp NZ wine with a citrusy finish. Well worth the money and went down well with all who participated
This is a superb wine - full but not heavy, fruity and smooth. Perfect for sharing on an autumn evening.
