Why we chose it

“Musar Jeune is the everyday version — lighter, fresher, designed to be drunk young. Still has that distinctive Lebanese character. Great with food, great by itself.”

About this wine

Musar Jeune Red is the estate's youngest and most immediate wine, blending Cinsault, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon from organically certified vineyards in the western Bekaa Valley. A bright, vibrant ruby, it leads with dark cherries and berries, then pomegranate and cranberry, with herbal notes of violet and thyme lifting above the fruit. The palate is dense and full of energy, with smooth tannins and lively acidity carrying it through.

Almost nothing is done to this wine. It ferments in concrete at 27 to 29°C, rests in vat over winter, and is bottled unfiltered without seeing a moment of oak. That is what keeps the fruit so clear, and it makes this the easiest way into the Musar style. Serve it lightly cool with grilled lamb, pork, or a bowl of pasta with tomato and herbs.

About the producer

Founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar in the Bekaa Valley, Château Musar is Lebanon's most iconic winery and one of the world's legendary wine estates. The winery's bold, complex blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, and Carignan — aged for years in barrel and bottle before release — have continued to be produced through war, siege, and adversity, earning the estate an almost mythical reputation. The Hochar family's commitment to their land and craft is one of wine's most remarkable stories.
