Woman planting mangrove saplings in a coastal restoration project

We plant a tree for every order

Every order placed through vinoshop.co.uk leads to the planting of a mangrove tree in Madagascar. It is a small act with real consequences — for local communities, for coral reefs, and for the climate.

Why We Plant Trees

We contribute a percentage of every sale towards reforestation because the science is clear and the need is urgent. Trees — particularly mangroves — are among the most effective carbon sinks on the planet, absorbing CO&sub2; from the atmosphere at rates far higher than terrestrial forests. They stabilise coastlines, protect coral reefs from sedimentation, and provide habitat for an enormous range of species. In Madagascar, where deforestation has removed much of the island's original tree cover, the restoration of mangrove forests also supports the livelihoods of coastal communities who depend on healthy marine ecosystems for their food and income.

Eden Reforestation Projects

Our partner in this is Eden Reforestation Projects, an organisation with a strong track record in community-based reforestation across several countries. Eden works by employing local villagers to plant and protect native tree species — an approach that combines environmental restoration with meaningful economic support. To date they have planted over a billion trees across Haiti, Nepal, Madagascar, Mozambique, Indonesia, Honduras, Kenya, and Ethiopia.

The trees are planted in Madagascar's coastal mangrove zones, where the combination of warm water, tidal flow, and native species makes for rapid growth and maximum ecological impact.
