Why we chose it

“Two decades of oak takes the edges off completely: prune, dates and crystallised fruit, with the wood barely raising its voice. One to sip slowly and not share too widely.”

About this wine

Baron de Sigognac 20 Year Old Armagnac is a distinguished expression, masterfully crafted from a blend of 50% Ugni-Blanc and 50% Baco grapes. This exceptional Bas Armagnac undergoes 20 years of ageing in oak barrels, resulting in a lovely amber colour and remarkable depth.

On the nose, a delicate and fruity bouquet showcases perfumed notes of prune, dates, and vanilla. With each sip, the rounded and well-balanced palate reveals harmoniously melded flavours, with a particularly lovely finish of crystallised fruits complemented by a gentle presence of wood.

The artistry of Baron de Sigognac reflects the dedication and expertise of the Guasch family, who oversee every step of the production process to ensure quality and tradition. Whether savoured neat or enjoyed in quiet reflection, this Armagnac embodies the rich heritage and craftsmanship of the Bas Armagnac region.

About the producer

Baron de Sigognac is made at Château de Bordeneuve in Bas-Armagnac by the Guasch family, in Gascony since the twelfth century and distilling here since 1974. Jean-Claude and his son Thomas farm sixty hectares of Ugni Blanc and Baco, distilling in a traditional Armagnac alembic approaching its hundredth year. Long cask ageing gives their vintages depth without losing Gascon warmth.
