About this wine

Cala Niuru Frappato – Coastal Sicilian Elegance

Cala Niuru Frappato from Il Mortellito is a beautifully expressive red wine from the sun-drenched south-east of Sicily, near Pachino in the historic Val di Noto. This coastal region, shaped by limestone soils and cooling sea breezes, produces wines with remarkable freshness and finesse, and Frappato thrives here, delivering a lighter, more aromatic style than many traditional Sicilian reds.

Crafted by the small, family-run estate Il Mortellito, led by Dario Serrentino, this wine reflects a low-intervention, vineyard-focused philosophy. Certified organic farming, traditional bush-trained vines, and gentle winemaking allow the purity of the fruit to shine through. Expect vibrant notes of wild strawberry, red cherry, and subtle floral lift, with a silky texture and refreshing acidity.

Great served chilled!

Their Cala Niuru Frappato is a lively, low-intervention wine that celebrates this charming Sicilian red variety — light, fragrant and richly textured, grown on the volcanic soils of southeastern Sicily where Frappato is at its most expressive.
