Why we chose it

“Rosso di Montepulciano is Vino Nobile’s little sister — same Sangiovese grape, less oak age, more approachable young. Lovely food wine with pasta or grilled meat.”

About this wine

This vibrant red from Tuscany bursts with lively cherry and plum flavours, complemented by delicate hints of violets, subtle spice, and earthy undertones. Its fresh acidity and soft tannins create a smooth, approachable character that's perfect for any occasion.

Crafted in the heart of Tuscany, Crociani's Vin Rosso di Montepulciano blends Sangiovese (80%), Canaiolo (10%), and Mammolo (10%), perfectly showcasing the region's winemaking traditions. The Crociani family's dedication to quality shines through in every bottle, offering an authentic taste of this iconic region.

Pair with classic Italian dishes like wood-fired pizza, tomato-based pasta, or a simple charcuterie board. Best served slightly below room temperature (around 16–18°C) to let its bright flavours shine.

About the producer

Crociani is a historic family estate in the heart of Montepulciano, Tuscany, dedicated entirely to the wines of this noble hilltop town. The estate produces Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Rosso di Montepulciano from its own vineyards, alongside the rare and precious Vin Santo di Montepulciano — a traditional sweet wine aged for years in small barrels. Generations of family commitment to the land underpin every bottle.

Recommended at the wine fair, good choice!

Recommended by friends at the Wine Fair, we were also pleased with the Crociani. If wines are "biological", with a good taste, then so much the better.
We complemented it (or vice versa) with Italian meatballs and tagliatelle, which went down well
The wine has a floral scent and dryish fruity taste, slightly lighter at 12.5% than our usual choices, but good for the price, and our second bottle will emerge shortly!

Thank you, Jimm & Jane. A great find from the Wine Fair! Crociani is a family-run Montepulciano producer, and this organic Rosso is exactly the sort of versatile Italian red we love to recommend. Enjoy bottle number two!
