Why we chose it

“Flechas de los Andes Gran Cabernet Franc from Mendoza — Cab Franc in Argentina brings elegance and herbaceous character to the Malbec region. A genuinely compelling wine.”

Kelli - Wine Buyer
About this wine

Produced in the high-altitude vineyards of Argentina's renowned Uco Valley, Flechas de los Andes Gran Cabernet Franc is a refined expression of one of Mendoza's most exciting grape varieties. Created by the prestigious Edmond de Rothschild family, this wine combines the freshness and elegance that Cabernet Franc is known for with the concentration and purity that only high-altitude vineyards can deliver.

Deep ruby in colour, the nose opens with aromas of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and red cherry, alongside classic notes of red pepper, violet, tobacco, cedar and subtle spice. Careful French oak ageing adds layers of vanilla and toast without overwhelming the fruit. The palate is silky and beautifully structured, offering vibrant dark fruit, savoury herbs and mineral freshness, supported by fine-grained tannins and a long, elegant finish. A superb partner for grilled ribeye steak, roast lamb, venison, duck breast or mature hard cheeses, with excellent ageing potential.

About the producer

Flechas de los Andes was founded in 2003 at Vista Flores in Mendoza's Uco Valley, a partnership between Baron Benjamin de Rothschild and Laurent Dassault. The name — arrows — comes from the five Rothschild brothers whose emblem it is. More than a hundred hectares sit high on alluvial soils at the foot of the Andes, with Malbec at the centre of the range.
