About this wine

The Second Wine of Château Bastor-Lamontagne, Sauternes

Château Bastor-Lamontagne is one of the finest estates in Sauternes, located in the commune of Preignac near the legendary Château d'Yquem. Les Remparts is the château's second wine — a gateway to the house's distinctive style of botrytised dessert wine, made from Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes affected by noble rot, which gives Sauternes its unrivalled richness and complexity.

Honeyed apricot, ripe peach and marmalade on the nose, the palate is lusciously sweet but beautifully balanced with refreshing acidity that keeps each sip lively. A refined and approachable Sauternes, wonderful alongside fresh foie gras, soft blue cheese or simply on its own as a luxurious dessert wine.

About the producer

Château Bastor-Lamontagne is a leading estate in Sauternes, the legendary Bordeaux appellation renowned for the world's finest botrytised sweet wines. Situated in Preignac near Château d'Yquem, its vineyards benefit from morning mists from the Ciron river that promote the noble rot concentrating Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc to extraordinary richness and complexity. Les Remparts is the estate's accessible second label, offering a refined introduction to Sauternes.
