About this wine

Richard's fifth release is a stunning three-year-old single malt whisky aged in a new American oak cask. The cask carries a level three char, making it fairly active, yet it has not dominated the spirit. Remarkably sippable at cask strength and unbelievably smooth at 52% ABV, with very little alcohol heat.

On the nose there are big notes of vanilla, toffee, marzipan and an almost Christmas cake character; the palate follows with more of the same, an upfront spiciness and a long finish. Richard Lock describes himself as a jack of all trades: designing stills and building three-phase control panels one day, then applying for Rural Development Grants the next, all while producing IWSC gold medal winning new make spirit and vodka.
