About this wine

A McLaren Vale Blend of Shiraz, Grenache and Zinfandel

Crafted in the heart of McLaren Vale, Silent Noise SGZ is a beautifully balanced red blend combining Shiraz, Grenache and Zinfandel. A mild growing season and ideal ripening conditions throughout Vintage 2022 allowed the fruit to develop exceptional balance, freshness and texture, resulting in a polished and expressive wine full of character.

Blending 40% Shiraz, 20% Grenache and 40% Zinfandel, this rich Australian red opens with vibrant aromas of blackcurrant, preserved cherry, plum and dark red rose, layered with smooth milk chocolate notes. The palate is generous and velvety, showing ripe blueberry and blackberry flavours alongside hints of juniper and delicate rose tea. Silky fine tannins and subtle spice carry through to a long, elegant finish, making this an excellent choice alongside grilled meats, slow-cooked dishes or mature cheeses.

Silent Noise wines are handcrafted small batch creations by Charlie, son of Kevin and Helen O'Brien who founded Kangarilla Road winery in McLaren Vale in 1997. Charlie has winemaking experience from Gemtree Wines, Yangarra Estate, Pikes at Clare Valley in Australia and also Château Haut Bailly in Bordeaux.

About the producer

Kevin and Helen O'Brien bought a small vineyard and winery on Kangarilla Road in McLaren Vale in 1997, taking on plantings that date to the 1970s. Kevin, a Roseworthy oenology graduate, has made the wines ever since, joined by their son Charlie, whose Silent Noise label explores alternative varieties alongside the estate's savoury, spice-driven McLaren Vale reds.
