Why we chose it

“Single-variety cider is where things get interesting, and Katy is my go-to example: bone dry, blossomy and clean. Lovely against a soft cheese or some white fish.”

About this wine

Thatchers Katy Cider is a bright and refreshing single-variety cider made entirely from Katy apples, grown in the heart of Somerset. Crystal clear pale gold in the glass, it opens with an aromatic nose of white blossom and fresh apple with a subtle nuttiness, all the hallmarks of the heritage Katy variety.

Bone dry and elegantly structured on the palate, with a clean, precise finish that reflects the purity of single-variety cider-making. Whether enjoyed on a sunny afternoon or paired with food, Thatchers Katy is a true showcase of Somerset cider heritage at its finest.

About the producer

Thatchers has made cider at Myrtle Farm in Sandford, North Somerset, since William Thatcher pressed his first apples there in 1904. Four generations have followed, with Martin Thatcher running the business since 1992 and the fifth generation now coming through. The orchards around the farm still supply the fruit, from Katy to the traditional bittersweet Redstreak.
