Why we chose it“The Hilt Estate sits in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills, where the Pacific Ocean influence creates conditions that feel almost Burgundian, and you can taste it in every glass. This 2021 Pinot Noir has beautiful red cherry, dried rose petal and a subtle earthy complexity that unfolds as it opens up. It is the kind of wine that makes you slow down and really pay attention.”

About this wine
The Hilt Estate Pinot Noir is a beautiful expression of cool-climate California, grown in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation of Santa Barbara County where the influence of the Pacific Ocean creates a long, cool growing season ideal for Pinot Noir. The Hilt is the Phelps family's Burgundy-inspired project, committed to wines of elegance, transparency and site-driven character.
The 2023 vintage shows a translucent ruby colour with beguiling aromas of wild strawberry, cherry, dried rose petal and a delicate earthy, forest-floor note. Refined and silky on the palate with soft fine tannins, bright natural acidity and a long, perfumed finish that speaks clearly of its cool coastal origins. Wonderful alongside roasted duck, lamb cutlets, wild mushroom dishes or a good charcuterie board.
