Why we chose it“Zavec Brothers Blaufrankisch from Slovenia — the same grape as Austria’s great red, made with real character. Dark, spicy and genuinely interesting Central European wine.”

About this wine
Zavec Brothers is a small family estate in Slovenia's Vipava Valley, where Mediterranean warmth meets Alpine air and the powerful Burja wind, drawing on this unique interplay of climates to make wines of genuine character and distinctiveness.
The 2024 Blaufränkisch is well-structured and medium-bodied, with dark cherry, wild berry and a lively note of white pepper. The palate is fresh and vibrant with fine tannins and a clean, persistent finish that speaks of the valley's altitude and the Burja's cooling influence. An excellent red for lamb, grilled meats and tomato-based pasta dishes.
