About this wine

Nero d'Avola is Sicily's great indigenous red grape — a variety built for the island's brilliant sunshine, capable of producing wines of remarkable depth, richness and warm character. Arcano captures the essence of Sicilian viticulture in an accessible, well-crafted style from Botter, one of Italy's most experienced wine families with roots stretching back to 1928 near Venice.

Deep ruby in the glass, the wine offers an inviting nose of dark cherry, bittersweet chocolate and warm baking spice. Medium-bodied and smooth, the palate delivers ripe fruit, a touch of vanilla and soft rounded tannins, finishing clean and satisfying. An ideal match for rich tomato pasta, slow-cooked meats and hard Italian cheeses.

About the producer

Casa Vinicola Botter was founded in 1928 when Carlo Botter and his wife Maria began selling wine in the village of Fossalta di Piave, near Venice. Now in its third generation under Luca, Annalisa, and Alessandro Botter, the family company has grown into one of Italy's largest wine exporters, with a capacity of 23.5 million litres and a range spanning every major Italian appellation. Their own labels — including Cortestrada — capture each region's character with reliability and craft.
