Babylonstoren Sprankel

A vibrant bubbly from Babylonstoren in South Africa, made in the traditional method of the finest sparkling wines. The long secondary fermentation in bottle brings out all the quality of the grapes – 100% chardonnay sourced from the estate's premium Franschhoek vineyards – and adds a glorious mousse of bubbles and rich complexity.

Straw yellow in colour, Sprankel offers a bouquet of ripe golden apple, boiled sweets, tropical fruits and subtle biscuity-brioche notes. In the mouth it is fruity and crisp, with good freshness and balance. Flavours of lime and grapefruit meld with more complex blanched almond and passion fruit undertones. The finish is long, with good minerality and a clean, soft acidity. Perfect popped now, or in years to come.

Sprankel makes a beautiful aperitif, served with roasted almonds, or enjoy it with salmon, shellfish and caviar. The smoothness of the wine also means it works well with poultry and seafood in light, buttery sauces.
