Why we chose it

“Start here if Armagnac is new territory for you. Dried apricot and caramel with plenty of warmth, and enough character that it does not need a special occasion to justify itself.”

About this wine

Baron de Sigognac VSOP Armagnac embodies the time-honoured craft of Gascony distillation. Aged patiently in oak casks, it reveals expressive aromas of dried apricot, plum and vanilla, followed by a rich, rounded palate of caramel, spice and toasted oak. The finish is smooth and warming, with lingering hints of fruit and wood.

Distilled from local Ugni Blanc and Baco grapes, this VSOP offers the perfect balance between youthful vibrancy and mature complexity — a superb after-dinner spirit to sip slowly and savour.

About the producer

Baron de Sigognac is made at Château de Bordeneuve in Bas-Armagnac by the Guasch family, in Gascony since the twelfth century and distilling here since 1974. Jean-Claude and his son Thomas farm sixty hectares of Ugni Blanc and Baco, distilling in a traditional Armagnac alembic approaching its hundredth year. Long cask ageing gives their vintages depth without losing Gascon warmth.
