About this wine

Burgundy Chardonnay from Derrière Sazenay by Charton

Domaine Jean-Pierre et Vincent Charton is a family estate in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise, where father and son tend 10 hectares of vines including the prized Derrière Sazenay lieu-dit. This 2022 Bourgogne blanc draws from those old vines to produce a wine of genuine Burgundian character — bone dry, with aromas of fresh apple, citrus and a stony, mineral quality that speaks clearly of the limestone-rich Burgundy soil. On the palate it is elegant and focused, with good length and a clean finish.

Serve well chilled alongside grilled chicken, creamy fish dishes, fresh salads or a simple roast. A properly crafted Burgundy white at an honest price.

About the producer

Domaine Jean-Pierre et Vincent Charton is a family estate in the Cote Chalonnaise district of Burgundy, founded in 1941 and now run by father Jean-Pierre and son Vincent Charton. The 10-hectare estate is centred on Mercurey, with old-vine parcels including the Derriere Sazenay lieu-dit, where 60-year-old Pinot Noir vines on clay-limestone marl produce wines of exceptional depth and complexity for their appellation.
