Butlers dress their festive collection in the Nutcracker, and this 300g box is the largest of the family. Inside is an assortment of truffles, pralines and seasonal favourites spanning milk, dark and white chocolate, so there is something for every taste at the table. The fillings run from smooth and creamy through to brighter fruit and gentle spice, all handmade in Dublin by a family firm that has been making chocolate since 1932.
This is the box to put out on Christmas afternoon, when everyone has eaten and nobody wants to move. It is generous enough to pass round a full room and handsome enough to give as a present on its own. Serve it with a tawny port, coffee, or a small glass of Irish whiskey liqueur, all of which flatter the darker chocolates in the selection.
