Why we chose it

“Château d’Esclans Estate Rosé is the top of the range — richer, deeper and more complex than Rock Angel or Whispering Angel. The pinnacle of what Provence rosé can be.”

About this wine

Château d'Esclans Estate Rosé is a refined expression of Provence from the renowned Château d'Esclans estate, crafted with a meticulous selection of Grenache and Rolle. Gentle pressing and careful vinification preserve the wine's freshness while enhancing its depth and elegance. Delicate aromas of white peach, ripe strawberries and citrus zest lead to a palate that is fresh yet complex, with hints of wild berries, melon and a touch of minerality, finishing with a long, silky close.

Château d'Esclans has done more than any other estate to establish Provence rosé as a serious wine, and the Estate bottling sits at the heart of that reputation. Best enjoyed chilled at around 10 to 12°C as an apéritif, or paired with grilled seafood, fresh salads or Mediterranean dishes.

About the producer

Château d'Esclans is the Provence estate behind Whispering Angel, the wine that almost single-handedly changed the world's perception of rosé. Created by Sacha Lichine in 2006 from a historic Var estate near La Motte, the château works with old Grenache and Rolle vines to produce a range of Provence rosés at varying price points. Their wines — from the approachable Whispering Angel to the prestige Rock Angel and the estate bottling — set the benchmark for elegant, pale, dry Provençal rosé.
