Veneto Red, Travelled Well

Corvina is the grape behind Valpolicella and Amarone, and on its own it makes a red that is softer and more approachable than either. The colour is ruby with garnet reflections, and the nose leads with vanilla and spice over cherry and black cherry. The palate is round and gentle, with sweet, fine tannins that sit comfortably in the texture rather than gripping, and the finish carries those spicy tones a good way.

Named for the Venetian traveller, this is the everyday end of the Domini Veneti range and it earns its place. Serve it with a tomato pasta, a margherita pizza or a board of hard cheese, and do not be afraid to give it twenty minutes in a cool room first. It is vegan and gluten free, and it suits a midweek table as happily as a crowd.
