Why we chose it“Garganega is the Soave grape, and here it is ripe, pear-scented and a little off-dry. Lovely with roast chicken or a soft cheese board.”

About this wine
Garganega is the grape behind Soave, and on its own in the Veneto it makes a white that is generous without being heavy. The nose is full of ripe Conference pear, honeydew melon and apricot, and the palate is textured and juicy, finishing with a pithy orange note that keeps it lively. It is gently off-dry at 12%, which makes it easy company for a relaxed evening.
Marco Polo is the everyday label from Domini Veneti, who work across the Veneto, and it is named for the Venetian traveller. Serve it well chilled with roast chicken, a soft cheese board or simple fish dishes. It is also vegan, which makes it an easy bottle to pour for a mixed table.
Where This Wine Comes From
The Venezie DOC covers north east Italy, the corner of the country that grows more Pinot Grigio than anywhere else on earth. Cool air spilling off the Alps keeps the fruit fresh, which is exactly what this style needs.
Pinot Grigio
A pink skinned mutation of Pinot Noir, usually pressed straight off the skins to give a pale, dry, crisp white of pear, white flowers and a clean finish.
Domini Veneti
The estate arm of a growers' cooperative farming some of the best sited vineyards in the Veneto. Marco Polo is their range named for the Venetian traveller.
