About this wine

Fondo Indizeno's Monopolio Sannicola Chardonnay is a sophisticated white from the Colli Orientali del Friuli, a region renowned for finesse and depth. This exciting project comes from Christian Patat, one of Friuli's most faithful advocates and a winemaker who has tirelessly championed the area. His vision for Fondo Indizeno is rooted in respect for the land, with organically farmed vineyards carefully chosen across three villages for their exceptional terroir.

Hand-harvested Chardonnay grapes undergo fermentation in French oak barrels, using both native and selected yeasts to preserve character while building complexity. The wine then spends eight months ageing in French oak, followed by six months of refinement in bottle. The result combines purity of fruit with layered texture: aromas of ripe pear, citrus blossom and subtle spice lead to a rounded palate touched by hints of vanilla and toast, with freshness and minerality lingering on the finish.

About the producer

Fondo Indizeno is a Friuli-Venezia Giulia producer crafting wines from the classic varieties of the region: Pinot Grigio, Friulano, and local red varieties grown in the Collio and Friuli Colli Orientali. The wines reflect the diversity and quality potential of one of Italy's great white wine regions, where the Alpine foothills meet the Adriatic.
