Why we chose it

“South African Riesling — drier than most German versions, with fresh citrus and mineral character. A grape that’s underused in the Cape and Hartenberg do it brilliantly.”

About this wine

Hartenberg Riesling, crafted by acclaimed winemaker Carl Schultz, showcases the precision and purity that define this estate's wines. From the cool slopes of Stellenbosch, it delivers vibrant aromas of lime, green apple and jasmine, underpinned by a subtle mineral backbone and crisp acidity.

Carl Schultz's careful approach to winemaking brings exceptional clarity and balance — allowing the fruit to shine while preserving the variety's signature freshness. This is a dry, refined Riesling that pairs beautifully with seafood, Asian dishes or enjoyed on its own as a refreshing aperitif.

About the producer

Hartenberg Estate is one of Stellenbosch's most historic wine farms, with vineyards first planted in the 1690s on the Bottelary Hills. The estate produces benchmark Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as an elegant Riesling. Winemaker Carl Schultz has led Hartenberg to international acclaim, with The Stork Shiraz and The Eleanor Chardonnay among South Africa's most sought-after wines.
