La Grande Châtelaine comes from a single 22-hectare vineyard located in the heart of Sancerre, on ancient soils dating back to the Cretaceous period. These flint-rich siliceous clay soils impart the distinctive gun-flint character that is a hallmark of Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyard is farmed sustainably, with processes adapted to each unique terroir. Following cold static settling, fermentation occurs at low temperatures in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness and purity of the fruit. The wine is aged on its fine lees to enhance its depth and complexity, resulting in a beautifully balanced and elegant expression of Sauvignon Blanc.
